We never know the path people end up taking because of our words. Lyrics can move people, put a smile on their face, or even change the trajectory of lives. In today's world, we need to honour this power by welcoming a diverse array of voices into the fold - a task that feels more meaningful than ever during Pride.
To mark Pride 2021, Brown Thomas tasked us on creating a campaign that speaks to the movement in a honest, authentic way. We created Our Words, a campaign that centres and celebrates the voices of Irish queer creatives, both in front of and behind the camera.
I interviewed Bobbi Arlo and Tim Chadwick, rising Irish music stars, to hear their story of finding and accepting their LGBTQ+ identity. The quotes from these interviews provided the foundation of our campaign and helped tell their stories to the world. We then filmed each of the musicians for an intimate acapella performance for the Brown Thomas social channels.
